Color Guard and Band: Colorful routines with visual flair and storytelling combined with rhythmic drums and beautiful sounds. Harmonizing together to create an unforgettable performance, captivating audiences during halftime shows and competitions. These programs at James Logan High School would not be possible without each other.

Color Guard sophomore Tyler Gomez

“I enjoy Color Guard because of the dancing, flag work, and I really like the people in the community, because […] you cannot join Color Guard without getting close to everyone in the program.” said sophomore Tyler Gomez, who has been doing color guard since middle school. She expresses her love for the community and the people, along with the dancing and work she does!

Adding to this, Will Surdilla said, “I love playing my instrument and the trombone section. My sisters both did band and had great experiences with the community. It’s really nice and I know a lot of people involved, which makes it fun.” Will, a freshman part of the Logan band, expresses their love for music and being a part of Color Guard and band.

Color Guard and Band practice tirelessly on the field to perfect their next performance. Freshman Ayana Burns, a Color Guard student, is ecstatic about performing the new routine with the band. She said “It’s very different compared to what I’m used to”, and describes the performance as “very nice and put together.”

The collaboration between Band and Color Guard shows how seamlessly teamwork, dedication, and creativity works together; they create shows that blend music, visual art, and movement. Over the years, with countless hours of commitment and practice, a community has been built between the performers and audience. This duo continues to grow and evolve while creating more and more memorable performances!
