We are sad to announce that Gerald “Jerry” Ortega passed earlier this month. He worked here at Logan in the supply room for many years.

Jerry passed on March 17, 2016 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, son and wife, grandson, brother, and nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a US war Veteran. Friends and family said he loved golfing and fishing, and was a “die-hard Raiders Fan.”

Most students at James Logan would not have known Jerry Ortega as he has been retired for years.

However, many Logan staff did know Jerry and they shared their positive comments on his obituary.

“You want anything, you go to Jerry.” -Paula Hague

“Jerry could always be counted on to raise spirits and see the good in everyone.”- James Hansen

“Jerry was the key to much of what made teaching possible at Logan. He was the most upbeat person in the place and always willing to help” -Dean Cozine

“Jerry was truly a Logan fixture and a wonderful, kind man who almost always had this great smile on his face that just made you have to smile back..” -Barbara Hart

“Jerry was a person who always made you feel like nothing else was more important than the conversation you were having with him right at that moment. – Erin Cross

“Jerry was an invaluable part of James Logan HS… always willing to do whatever was necessary to help students and staff. -Jeff Ustick

Jerry will be missed by Logan and all the people here he has left his mark on.
