emmys-kimmel-435Talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel brings his sense of humor on the Emmys stage. On September 18, 2016, the humor and heartfelt speeches set just the tone for a successful show and entertainment the viewers themselves. The men and women of the TV and movie industry showed just why the Emmy’s are one of the most watched awards shows in the nation with about  17.8 million viewers on just the premiere date.

The Emmy’s has been the most talked about award show for America’s best-known shows and movies. Some make history and some win as first timers and some simply just won again. Nominations for House of Cards, Downton Abbey, Black-ish, Modern Family, Dancing with the Stars, and Project Runway were just a few of many well-known shows that got  disappointed when the award was given to another well-deserved competitor. A popular well-known show won twelve awards just that Sunday night, Game of Thrones  is now the most awarded scripted series in Emmy history. Another show setting history on the stage of Emmy’s is The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story  with 22 nominations and scoring a win for Outstanding Limited Series, but the story-lines are not the only things that get the credit, what really make these movies and television show award winners are the people who play the parts. Actors and actresses not only win the hearts of their viewers on-screen but off-screen as well. Actress, Julia Louis-Dreyfus gave a heartfelt speech at the Emmy’s  dedicated to her father who died just two days before the Emmy premiere. “I’m so glad that he liked me because his opinion was the one that really mattered,” says the actress. The speech brought tears to the actress’ eyes and her fellow actors and actresses attending the shows and the viewers watching from their home.

The show got  surprisingly interesting when some of the cast from Stranger Things came onto the stage with a singing performance to the hit song “Uptown Funk” originally sang by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars. The kids from the show put their own little spin on the song making the crowd go wild.  Another star setting foot on the Emmy stage for an amazing performance was Tori Kelly, singing her own version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” As she strummed her acoustic guitar pictures of Merle Haggard, Natalie Cole, David Bowie, the Eagles’ Glenn Frey and finally the iconic singer-songwriter Prince were screened in the back as a tribute to the stars we’ve lost. We can definitely say that there was not a dry eye left in the audience and even at home.

However, the entertainment wasn’t the only thing that got praised during the two-hour show. Actresses showed off their beautiful designer gowns, Priyanka Chopra and Kristen Bell are named the top best dressed according to Cosmo, Kristen with a graceful, elegant, and beautiful Zuhair Murad saved the best dress for the day before the premiere of her new comedy show stunning the viewers and Priyanka feeling just as confident as she looked on the red carpet while wearing a Jason Wu, stunning red gown, but only did she dress to impress, she spun around the carpet showing just how confident she was. Unfortunately, some were not as a graceful as these two beauty stars. Variety recently came out with a Best & Worst Dressed Article, stating that many stars were too casual and far too comfortable to be on the carpet. From see-through dresses displaying their undergarments to dresses that didn’t make any sense to the fashion industry, Emmy’s red carpet had it all!

The 68th Emmy’s are the award show to watch, Can’t wait for the what excitement the Emmy’s will have in store for their viewer next year!
