Of Books and Pens is holding a book drive called Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover.
Alyssa Barquin, the club treasurer, would like students, staff, and teachers to donate their high school appropriate books to Mr. Ellison in room 207. Used books will be collected until next Friday.
“The book drive isn’t really for donation purposes,” Barquin says. “It’s for us, the students, to use and benefit from everyone’s donations. We’re going to wrap up the books so that you don’t know what it is then we’re going to write key words on the front like the genre or big themes from the book. On the day of the event anyone can browse the books to see what catches your eye solely based on what little information you have, that way you don’t judge the book by its cover.”
A date for the actual event has not been set, but it will be held at the end of this month or the beginning of next month.
