When it comes to watching videos, online streaming has become a popular choice because of the accessibility. Streaming services, such as Youtube and Netflix have dominated the viewing of entertainment for a while now.
Both platforms have a solid base of viewers that actively seek to watch content. Youtube carries more content than Netflix, it uploads over 300 hours of content every minute, whereas Netflix uploads new movies and TV shows monthly.
Youtube and Netflix have their pros and cons. Youtube can have ads, which may annoy some viewers, but there is so much variety on there. Netflix is a subscription service, so viewers have to pay monthly, but there are no ads and a lot of movies and TV shows can be found there. So, which one do Colts prefer?
Senior, Thomas Fortunak said, “In my opinion, I prefer Youtube because it gives more options than Netflix and it’s free.”
Jared Chua, junior, had a similar opinion, “Netflix doesn’t offer every single show or movie, you can still find shows and movies on Youtube.”
Netflix has been seeing a recent incline in viewers due to an increase in added content, resulting in more watch hours.“Youtube only offers so many hours of entertainment, whereas, Netflix has abundant hours of entertainment. So, I prefer Netflix over Youtube because of this reason.” stated Paola Garcia Barajas, senior.
But, some students, such as Paulo Delos Reyes, are conflicted with what they prefer. “I prefer watching Netflix for shows, but for anything else I prefer Youtube,” senior Paulo Delos Reyes says. Both services offer tons of content that will have something for everyone. It all really depends on the viewer and what their own personal preference is.
