jungleRe-makes of our favorite children Disney films can either turn out really good or really bad. In The Jungle Book’s case, it came out just fantastic. Minor warning, there will be spoilers in this review, obviously.

The movie brought in 103.5 million, globally 290.9 million. It cost 175 million to make, so it definitely was worth every cent.

As a fan of Disney I had had high hopes for this movie. Thankfully, they weren’t crushed. The cast was very well picked and the CGI was on point. It almost makes me wish I was Mowgli, hanging out with all the marvelous animals of the jungle. Then again he was being hunted by a tiger, so in that case I like being me.

The movie opened up all friendly and nice as any movie should. Bagheera, played by Ben Kingsley narrated us through the classic tale of The Jungle Book. There actually weren’t many changes from the original to the new which I loved.

Neel Sethi, the boy playing Mowgli played his part very well and he’s only twelve. At twelve I was still playing with Barbie dolls, waiting for the next episode of Hannah Montana to come on. Basically, I can see big things happening for this boy in his future. The interaction he had with the animals seemed so real which is hard to do especially when practically everything is CGI. Shere Khan played by Idris Elba played the perfect villain. I was terrified of the tiger.

There was a good amount of pop-outs during the movie which surprised me, literally. I was not bored once while watching. Wherever they filmed it was a great location. So much color was brought to the screen. It gave us, the viewers an idea of what it’s actually like to be in the jungle.

I would encourage people to watch the movie. If you enjoy action, drama, and The Jungle Book itself, you won’t be disappointed. The film gives a positive message. One to face your fear, and the other to be yourself, no matter what anyone else labels you as.
