Mr. Forrest has been picked as this year’s Teacher of the District. Unlike Teacher of the Year the recipients of this award are nominated and chosen by various members of the school administration, not the students.
With this award Forrest will now move on to compete with other teachers for Teacher of the County. Winning that award would then mean he becomes nominated for Teacher of the State and so on.
When asked how he felt about the award Forrest replied, “I feel very honored to have been selected by my fellow teachers.”
Q: How did you feel when you found out you’d won?
A: I was a little surprised. There were a number of talented teachers on the list of nominees.
Q: When did you get the news?
A: I found out about two weeks ago. There was a celebrations for other teachers who’d received awards at the district office. They announced it there.
Q: Since you’ve won Teacher of the District you now have the chance to win Teacher of the County. Do you think you’ll win that award too?
A: I have no idea, but I’m not too worried about it right now.
Q: You’ve taught at Logan for 31 years. Is this the first time you’ve gotten an award like this?
A: No. I’ve received this award one other time, in 1995.
Q: Is there anyone else that was nominated who you felt should have one?
A: There were a lot of other teachers on the list who were just as deserving.
When asked if he had any last comments Forrest simply smiled and said once again that he was honored to have been chosen by his colleagues and the district.
