loganwhiteredThe mighty Colts had their senior night last Friday at Logan, where they defeated the Washington Huskies 63-6. This was an improvement from their last game against De La Salle on Friday, October 30, where the Trojans beat Logan 57-14.

Ahmari Davis scored the first touchdown of the game at 11:21, making the score 6-0. Damani Sistena scored a touchdown at 6:50, followed by another at 1:00, bringing Logan up 20-0. Unfortunately for Washington, their defensive line was not so hot. Ahmari Davis intercepted Washington’s ball and scored a touchdown at the last second of the first quarter.

Wide receiver, Sean Simpson scored the first touchdown of the second quarter, where the score was 35-0. Carlos Johnson, running back, followed with another touchdown making the score 42-0.

In the 3rd quarter, Washington came back a little prepared, but not prepared enough. Logan gained more points, scored by Hassan Said, bringing them up 49-0. Luckily for Washington, they managed to score a touchdown before the game was over. Damani Sistena  scored a touchdown by catching the ball from Washington’s kickoff which was at the 10-yard line. The third quarter ended with a score of 55-6.

The Huskies ended the game a little rough with a fumble in the 4th quarter, but the Colts picked it up scoring a touchdown where the game ended with the score of 63-6.

Not only was it senior night, but it was also their head football coach, George Zuber’s last non-conference game coaching football at Logan. “Hopefully we have a few more games,” says Zuber, “we’re going to be in the playoffs, but this could be the last game at home. It was a great victory for the team, I’m glad everyone got in. We played well, so it was really exciting for the kids.”

Jessy Mefford, defensive tackle and offensive guard, and Sir Jordan Smith, receiver and safety, are seniors who were also celebrating their senior night and last non-conference game, “It’s a bittersweet moment, but we came out here and destroyed them, so that was cool,” says Mefford, “I was talking mess on Snapchat, like always, so you know, we had to back it up tonight.” Smith said, “It’s exciting. I’ve been playing for four years, and now it’s our last season game ever.”

The Colts will be playing California High School for their first round of NCS playoffs on November 13, 2015. The game will be at California High school at 7 pm. Come out and watch the Mighty Colts defeat the Grizzlies.
