The James Logan basketball program has recently hosted their first Guy Emmanuel tip-off. Many bay area teams participated in the tip off including San Leandro High, Freedom High, Deer Valley High, Pittsburg High, Mcclymonds High, Oakland Tech High School and the one and only James Logan High school. The tip off was a showcase, or in other words, exposure to play and show off your team as well as your individual game to college coaches. It was James Logan’s very first annual tip-off. The only other tip-off in the bay is the nor-cal tip-off at hosted by Newark Memorial High school. Both tip-offs had many spectators other than college coaches that attended, including parents, other high school athletes, and former basketball players, but it was a public event that anyone could attend.
James Logan basketball player, Jared Bailey, attended games before his own in the day and said,” The event went very well, the games were very competitive and intriguing. It was interesting seeing talent from other places and cities and not just teams in our league. The event was very organized and rarely a dull moment. The best part was competing in the finale of the tip-off against Oakland Tech and getting a big and hard fought win against a very talented team.”
The event was a success and was very well put together. Coaches Taras Busch and Melvin Easley helped organized most of the event with help of the athletes’ parents of the basketball team. No issues happened or occurred.
