James Logan held its annual club fair on September 13 and 15 during both lunches, bringing crowds of students out to sign up for the variety of clubs that set up stalls around Colt Court. The club fair is a way for students to get involved with their school, meet new people, and sometimes even gain community service hours.
Jacob Agbisit, a junior, said, “Joining ITS [Theater Club] is a good way to get involved with James Logan’s theater and drama programs.” The International Thespian Society serves young aspiring actors by giving them advice, offering community service for those who help with school productions, and keeping students up to date about future shows at Logan.
Some clubs also work to develop new skills within students. Preet Bhang, a senior, said on behalf of the Journaling Club, “You can use your organizing skills from journaling to benefit you in class.”
Clubs this year show Logan’s spirit by serving those in need.
The Fashion Club is dedicated to providing tips on current fashion, DIY crafts, and promoting sustainable clothing for everyone. Senior Francheska David said, “Donating clothes gives back to the community.”
The Fashion Club encourages donations by giving its members community service hours in return for contributions.
The Fashion Club hopes to set up a mini thrift store to provide affordable clothing for everyone. They meet every Thursday at 3:45 in room 75. They also have an Instagram @fashionclub.JLHS, so if you have a question about the club, be sure to contact them there.
Many clubs that participated in this year’s club fair experienced great success at their first meetings. The Art Club reported 70 students in attendance on September 15.
Senior and Art Club secretary Megan Nguyen expressed hope following the packed meeting, saying, “The nice thing about Art Club is it really provides a nice space for sharing an experience because you’re surrounded by so many other talented people. It really encourages you to be the best version of yourself.”
