Most people just take days off on specific holidays where it’s time for them to spend with the family or friends. Working on a holiday usually pays the same as they do if it was a normal day.
The Courier went around to ask a few people if they took a job on the holidays, or if they take the day off instead.
Dominic Martinez said, “I don’t like to work on a holiday because it is a day I want to spend away from work and relax with my family.”
Most people dislike and do not wish to work on holidays because they see it as a time where they are with their family and spending time with friends.
When asked if he enjoys having to work during the holidays, Nathan Reyes responded with, “I prefer not to work on the holidays because the pay I get when I do is exactly the same as my normal pay. So if I have a choice of working and not being able to see my family on a day where I need to spend with family, I would prefer to be with family and enjoy all the time I have with them. The only real time I would really go out to work on a holiday is if I was really needed at work, but other that that I wouldn’t”
In the end, most people never want to work on a holiday because it’s not worth missing out on family time, and plus they would get payed the same amount as if it was a normal day.
