JLHS Puente Juniors took on SoCal from Oct. 5th to Oct. 7th to visit colleges.

Picture of USC taken during the trip

On this trip, we visited 7 different colleges so we were able to see the different opportunities offered away from home. UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton, University of Southern California, UCLA, Loyola Marymount University, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal Poly left different yet all significant memories for us.

It was an motivational trip, as it gave us more of a push to do better and achieve our goals. It motivated me to do better so I can get into a good college and get the education I want. All these colleges changed my perspectives on what I want and what is also reasonable of getting an education. USC was my overall favorite university.  Its location in L.A., its student culture, and its school spirit are all attrc

It was a fun experience with my Puente Familia, as most of us have been together for 3 years.  We do have a lot of support when it comes to looking at colleges. The Puente counselors and teachers make sure we take classes within the a-g requirements and AP/Honors. Also, they try to prepare us for the SAT. The Puente Program motivates a lot of students to do what is needed for a higher and better education. My experience in SoCal changed my perspective and made me realize what I truly want. I am glad I was able to attend to this trip because personally it was life-changing experience.
