Going to Jalisco, Mexico and wondering what food to try?
Tortas Ahogadas, in other words “drowned sandwich”, is a traditional Jaliciense food that consists of a bread known as birote, pork, and tomato sauce.
The pork is stuffed in the birote, then is drenched in tomato sauce. To add more flavor to it you can add onion in vinegar and/or lime.
If you like your food with some spice, there is a homemade chili sauce that most people use to spice it up a bit.
The size of the dish might seem small, but it will leave you satisfied in the end. To make it taste even better, drink a coke. The delicious taste will leave you wanting more.
If you are not a big fan of tomatoes, then food is not for you.
In Jalisco there are many other types of traditional Mexican food such as tacos, pozole, menudo, quesadillas, enchiladas, sopes, and many other wonderful choices that you can have as a substitute.
