English For Future Teachers is an English class seniors can take. It is a year-long course and it helps students prepare for a career in teaching. Most students currently enrolled in the class are looking forward to being a teacher. However, there are a couple who are unsure about this career field.
“I would definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in teaching.
This is an English class geared toward high school seniors that desire to pursue teaching as a career… because this is a high school class, students may join to gain insight into the teaching experience to help them decide whether or not teaching is for them,” Senior Felicisimo “Manny” Fuentes said.
Taking this class can either lead you towards the teaching path or lead you away from the teaching path.
A potential English For Future Teachers student explained why she would be interested in joining. Junior Trisha Marie Sanidad said how.
“I was interested in the class when I was a freshman. My views changed, and I was not really into it. Now, it seems like a class I would love to take,” Sanidad said.
Sanidad also explained how she would take the class, but she is also interested in nursing. The school provides a ROP class that she is taking instead. The class conflicts with her schedule so if she took both classes, her schedule would be confusing.
The teacher, Ms.Schwartzfarb is a fun energetic person. She has been interested in school since she was a toddler, and has wanted to be a teacher since kindergarten.
“I hope that my passion for my profession translates itself to my students and inspires them in their future careers. I hope students take away a variety of things.”
She also hopes that skill-wise her students will “take away increased confidence in public speaking, planning, writing, reading for meaning, and time management.”
Overall, English For Future Teachers is a really good class to take. It provides you with insights from a teacher’s perspective. In this class, you don’t just learn how to be a teacher, but you learn a deeper skill then that. This class is highly recommended for students.
