With a new season before them and a squad of new players, the James Logan Varsity Basketball Team hopes to bounce back from a first game loss in the playoffs last year to Monte Vista. Logan has been progressing as a program the past few years from our coaches and progressive summer camps which has players working hard and improving their game throughout the summer.
Varsity coaches have been developing players through conditioning, the weight room, and basketball drills. The program played almost 30 games in tournaments on all levels throughout the summer. Coaches Chris Busch and Matt Busch, who are brothers, have been preparing players for greatness on and off the court by bringing in guest speakers and teaching their young players more about the game of basketball.
Returning varsity player and senior Jared Bailey said,” Our chemistry has improved from last years team to this years team because of our bond off the court. I see the team making it to the second round in NCS at minimum but the team is striving to win state.
“All summer the coaches put us into tough competition tournaments and also put us through intense workouts on a daily basis,” Bailey said,”League will be an easy walk through and no teams will be challenging for Logan.
“The strongest traits of our team is our defense and the scorers on the team and the starting 5 for the squad won’t fail to get the job done,” Bailey said, “The team will dedicate the season to Izaiah Mease and Junior Ioramo.”
One of the coaches, Taras Busch, father of Chris and Matt, said “the team will win league this year. We have improved on our chemistry, playing together, and our basketball I.Q. The strongest part of our team is our defense. I trust my boys to keep the opposing team’s scoring down and our defense will contribute to our offense and the defense will take us far in NCS.
“I think the team will be a much better three point shooting team than last year. We are not overlooking any teams this year in league or even out of league, so all teams will challenge us this year,” Taras Busch said. “We played over 30 games this summer in a month and a half. Our teams goal will be winning league first and foremost and ‘ just go from there. The coaching staff and the whole program including players has been working real hard all summer and will continue working for throughout the fall season.”
Logans’ 2016-2017 season begins November 12, 2016, come and watch them try to take the program to a higher level.
