The Logan varsity basketball team beat the Washington Huskies last Friday at Washington. Logan is now 10-6 overall for the season. This was a comeback from their game on Tuesday against Moreau Catholic High School, at Moreau, where Logan lost 69-80.
There were no points scored in the first quarter.
Logan scored 27 points in the second quarter before Point/Shooting Guard, Nabil Keyro, scored another 2 points for the Colts. Washington was not too far behind, scoring 11 points. Keyro made a 3-point field goal soon after, leading the colts 32-11. Felipe Marasigan, of the Huskies shot 3 free throws, making the score 41-17.
Corner, Michael Steadman scored 2 points right before halftime, keeping the Colts in the lead 47-21.
Point Guard, Noah Conner scored the first 2 points coming back from halftime, making the score 49-21, but the Huskies scored 3 points right after. There was a foul on Logan by Michael Steadman, giving the Huskies a free throw
Another foul was on Logan by shooting guard, Micah Webster-Butler, giving Washington another free throw, followed by a 2 point field goal by Marasigan, making the score 51-28.
Things turned around when a foul was on Washington by Jared Bailey, giving Webster-Butler a free throw, keeping Logan in the lead 52-28. The 3rd quarter ended with Logan in the lead, 66-42.
Washington scored the first minute of the 4th quarter, but had a foul, giving Steadman a free throw, bringing up the score 67-44. Point Guard, Ryan Parilla, scored 3 points for Logan towards the end of the quarter, making the score 86-59 at the end of the game.
“It was a bounceback game for all of us,” says Kimball, “we tried to learn our defense sets and we did that, and got away with a win.”
Logan has their next home game against American High School at 7:30 on Tuesday, January 19th. American is 3-13 overall, which is not tough to beat. Come out to show your support and watch the Colts defeat the Eagles.
