UCSB is located in Santa Barbara, CA and was established in 1891. In 1944 it became a UC, becoming the 3rd oldest university in the system.
One of the 10 UC campuses, UCSB consists of 5 colleges and schools that includes 87 undergraduate degrees and 55 graduate degrees.
The university was recently ranked 28th among the Best Global Universities. Its programs are highly ranked, especially their engineering ones. Notable schools that UCSB includes Gevirtz Graduate School of Education and Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management.
The admission rate of UCSB is 32.7%. The school requires every applicant to take the SAT and ACT plus the writing section in ACT. It also recommends taking Subject Tests relating to your major, and the Math 2 test. Average Standardized testing scores and grades include a 1937 in the SAT, an ACT score of 29, a minimum GPA 3.0 in the a-g classes, and a 4.05 GPA in your school year. The student faculty ratio is 17:1. The faculty ratios shows that the professors have time and can pay special attention to their students and their needs should they be willing. There are six faculty members who are Nobel Prize Laureates.
The city of Santa Barbara has many recreational activities, the most popular being its beach life. However according to the studentsreview and colleges.niche websites, students loved the campus but were disappointed with the social life at UCSB.
The tuition and fees of UCSB is approximately $14,000 a year and housing costs $800 a month, some houses being next to the beaches. The school provides 2.2 million dollars worth of scholarship through the donations made to the UC. To learn more about scholarship opportunities you can go here.
