UC Davis is one of the nine campuses located in Davis, California. Fifteen-minutes away from Sacramento, Davis became an official UC campus in 1959.
It is the second largest campus in terms of area after UC Merced, covering approximately 5000 acres.
The university was recently ranked #1 in the world in agriculture, forestry and veterinary science (QS world University Rankings 2015), #1 in the US for sustainability (UI Greenmetric Ranking 2014), and 9th in U.S. public School and Universities.
The acceptance rate of UC Davis is 40%. For applicants they suggest having a GPA between 3.72-3.96 and a weighted GPA between 3.95-4.25. The recommended SAT test scores are 670 for math, 618 for critical reading, and 636 for writing. Their recommended ACT score range is from 25-31. Student to faculty ratio is 17:1.
In-state tuition is about $32,208, but Davis offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to students. Not only that, but they also help them fill the scholarships out and assist in finding other scholarship opportunities out there. The school also has foreign exchange programs that incorporates studying a quarter abroad, a summer abroad and other internships as well as educational programs. Their Education Abroad Program includes 40 countries, more than 100 University Partners and 300+Programs. These programs run anywhere between 10-16 weeks and allows the students to earn credits toward their graduation. More information on these programs can be found here.
Students at Davis have a very active life with 700 activity and sports clubs to choose from. They can also get help from students and have consistent study groups. Most students find internships in the field they desire to pursue a career in and earn jobs before they graduate.
The city is basically a college town and the students of Davis make up 50% of the city population. Since the city is small transportation is convenient through Amtrak, Unitrans buses, walking, Yolobus, Zimride Rideshare, and Zipcar Rentals.
