The Neighbourhood is an alternative rock band from California and recently released their second studio album, “Wiped Out!” The album has a total of eleven tracks and before the full album release there were 3 singles.
This album is really good because it is mysterious and has a lot of real lyrics. Some of the songs I liked best were, Daddy Issues, Greetings from Califournia, Ferrari and RIP 2 My Youth.
Daddy Issues is my number one favorite song on Wiped Out! because the bass is ridiculous. I played it in the car and the mirror was shaking. It also has very real lyrics. The song is about Jesse, the lead singers dad, and it has that feel of wow.
Greetings from Califournia is also a really great song. It starts off very quietly and then suddenly a soft voice starts to sing. Then the beat drops, not like a techno drop, but drums and then the singing really starts. There is other instruments that add to the beat. There is no way to explain it other than it is an incredible song.
Ferrari is full of drum beats and bass riffs. It is basically talking about Jesse’s view on a relationship. It seems to be built on hypocrisy and physical, psychological distance. It sounds like a really good break up song to be honest.
RIP 2 My Youth was the very first single released. In another interview Jesse Rutherford, lead singer, explained that it is an outline of the band’s lives. It is about the difficulty of losing your youth and growing up.
This album overall is an amazing album. It speaks about personal issues and music that makes you feel is the best kind. It sort of hits you. What I really like is the opening track, A Moment Of Silence, was just thirty second of silence to I guess pay your respects to those you’ve lost.
