Troye_Sivan_-_Blue_NeighbourhoodTroye Sivan is a twenty year old Youtuber and singer from Perth, Australia. Earlier this year he released an EP titled WILD, and now the time has come to finally hear his album called Blue Neighbourhood. Blue Neighbourhood is a continuation of WILD, so the songs from the EP are on the album. You can read the review of WILD here, https://jameslogancourier.us?p=1511.

Blue Neighbourhood is one of the best albums I have listened to, the production is amazing and it’s different than anything I have heard. What really drew me into Troye’s music was that it had variety. My all time favorite song on the album is TALK ME DOWN, because it really is about that point in a relationship where you do not know what you are. The melody also is beautiful, and the lyrics go very well with it. TALK ME DOWN is the third music video to the Blue Neighbourhood music video series, and those videos are so powerful. The main characters are two boys who are in this friendship, relationship and it shows things they had to deal with as two boys in love. Really great.

COOL is the eighth song on Blue Neighbourhood, and it is a very cool song. The beat kind of just get’s me hype. The line, “I was just trying to be cool, I was just trying to be like you”, caught my attention because it reminds me of how people kind of change up their personality to be cool or different. It is a song my dad would dance to at a cookout, to be honest.

HEAVEN is the next song on the album and it is featuring Betty Who. I fell in love with this song because it talks about how to lose something that you think is necessary and still being great. When in reality you’re already great as the person you are. In the song Troye is speaking about his sexuality, and coming out as gay. The line “counting to fifteen” is sang and that is the age that Troye came out, and it’s just a really beautiful song. I feel like there are not a lot of songs that speak on issue that people go through with their sexuality, so this is a good change.

The next bop on this iconic album is YOUTH and I really like this song. This is the current single off of Blue Neighbourhood and it is basically about being young and living. The beat of the song is really chill, it is a song that you randomly start bobbing your head to.

LOST BOY is one of those songs that hit you. It reminded me that I know nothing about my life, I am lost, but it is okay. My favorite lyrics that i relate to a lot are, “Trying to kid myself that I got my s**t together”, because it is very true. I feel like a lot of people can relate. People think they are fully and completely ready, but in reality they are not.

The next song is called for him. featuring Allday and it is the only song on this album that isn’t capitalized. The song is a very cute song about everything you want to do with a person you like. It describes how to be happy, you don’t need materialist things, just that person that makes you happy.

Blue Neighbourhood is a very well made album, and it is like a story of life. Troye really surprised me and you should all listen to it if you want to be surprised too.
